I’ve got a thing for fairy lights, and it seems so do Loaf & Cofion Cynnes. Christmas is definitely in the air now, and this little stretch of Station Road is looking really festive. Proud of our town! Station Road, […]
Its the time of the year when the media starts whipping up weather stories using increasingly hysterical terms like ‘snow bomb’ or ‘beast’. But we still find ourselves wondering if we’re going to see snow before the year is out. […]
Moody winter morning skies up in Penrhos. There’s an almost otherworldly glow when the weather is like this. It has that vibe of looming snowfall, though it just remained a bit damp that day. I deliberately pushed the dwellings right […]
I was out on errands this afternoon and dusk was absolutely wonderous, casting vibrant hues across the landscape. I just had to take a moment to catch the sunset down Heol Eglwys. There were some incredible cloud formations later on, […]
Another JPEG off my old phone so not the best it could be, but I wanted to share as I love the scene so much. Taken on the forestry trails around Nant Helen, between Caehopkin and Ystradgynlais on New Year’s […]
Winter tends to bear the brunt of the most criticism of all the seasons of the year: It’s dark when you wake, and dark when you head home from work. It’s cold, it’s wet, and it’s windy. A lot of […]
I’m feeling heavy-hearted right now. I found out the 24 acres of land between Golwyg Y Cwm and Waun Gyrlais is up for sale by Powys County Council. Its future is uncertain. In my 7 years of living in Ystradgynlais, […]
What a day! I haven’t seen the Tawe so swollen in a good while. The crazy weather coincided with a crazy work day, so whilst I didn’t have any time to stop for shots of the river while out and […]
Six years ago, I fell in love with this view while staying overnight for the first time in Ystradgynlais. Many a time I see sunsets down the valley, but usually from road level. This afternoon, I happened to be in […]
Oh – my – goodness, it’s fresh out this morning. This one’s from a couple of years ago (the 30 sign is a giveaway), but pretty similar to how it looked this morning. I love seeing the mountain glowing while […]
Diamond Park, Ystradgynlais yesterday afternoon. Amazing I actually had a chance to take some photos in between wrangling our foster pup and trying to stop my daughter from running off. Nearly 7 years living in Ystrad, yet I could count […]
I do not get down to the Gorsedd Park in Ystradgynlais often enough — even though I spend most of my life just around the corner. I don’t think I caught it at autumn’s peak, but there were still some […]
I’ve got to be honest, I feel a little self-conscious standing in the supermarket car park taking photos. Cracking sky – no wonder with today’s weather – I must have seen about eight rainbows. Nearly forgot the milk though! Tesco, […]
It’s been rather unsettled recently, so sunsets have been pretty dramatic. I love the moody sky and the way the low sun down the valley is catching the edge of the house. Station Road, Ystradgynlais.
Lovely cool tones with the dragon’s breath down the valley this morning.
I took a July evening walk from Station Road up to ‘the machine’, along the hillside to Penrhos and down through the woodlands at the side of Nant Helen. Nothing quite like being in woodland during golden hour. Ystradgynlais, Wales, […]
There’s a special kind of tranquility that settles over the world just before dawn. Before my daughter made her grand entrance, these early morning excursions were my cherished ritual. I’d slip out of the house while the world still slept, […]
I stumbled across this one in my collection recently and was surprised I hadn’t done anything with it in three years. A quick edit, and I can now see why I took the shot in the first place. Ystradfawr Nature […]
This is a throwback to Brecon Road, Ystradgynlais in 2020 and looks quite different now due to the Persimmon Maes Y Rhos development which now stands where those vehicles are parked. Another example of how there can be so much […]
September shot by in a flash. Life is just so insanely busy at the moment due to several factors — my two-year old waking early in the morning, my partner having major surgery, and the day job just isn’t getting […]
