Sunset Over The Cross, Ystradgynlais

Landscape photo of a vibrant winter sunset looking down Heol Eglwys in Ystradgynlais.
A big part of what I like about this image is the wealth of blue sky that compliments the warmer tones. Also of note are the Christmas decorations on the bollards — courtesy of The Knitting Nannas —a local group that quietly does their thing year-on-year and adding their part to what makes this town great. I was out on errands this afternoon and dusk was absolutely wonderous, casting vibrant hues across the landscape. I just had to take a moment to catch the sunset down Heol Eglwys.

There were some incredible cloud formations later on, and if I’d waited around, I perhaps could have caught them in the shot, but my photography style isn’t like that.

I’m a self-labelled ‘guerrilla landscape photographer’. I see it, shoot it, and move on quick. This is more through circumstance than choice, but I think it works for me.

That said, a big part of what I like about this image is the wealth of blue sky that compliments the warmer tones.
