It’s utterly insane what good results you can get from phone cameras now. The Sony Xperia 5 MkV can shoot RAW. This means you have what the sensor picks up, not the way the software wants to resolve that in a JPG file. This is my first phone that shoots RAW. I’ve experienced regret at only having a phone on me that shoots JPG when being out and about in beautiful scenery (I have a particular shot from Rhossili a few years ago that I love, but the quality just isn’t there). But with the Xperia 5, I’m blown away with the quality.
Don’t get me wrong, I would choose my Lumix LX15 over it any day of the week for image quality as you can’t push the dynamic range or colours as much with the phone RAW files. But when the camera you carry every day is this good… well… new possibilities!
