Clouding Dawn in Ystradfawr

I recently bought a 17-year old bridge camera off Vinted so our friend could photograph our wedding. This thing has an 18x zoom on it – something I’m not used to, shooting predominantly on a 24-90mm range. I’m looking forward to trying it out when out and about. It will open up a whole load of new compositional styles to me.

This one though, is a pretty standard focal range. It started out sunny but quickly started to cloud over so the sunshine became very soft. I loved the way it was subtly catching the woodland floor.

Something about using an old digital camera feels very satisfying.

Wedding photos came out great by the way! Ystradfawr Nature Reserve, Ystradgynlais | May 2026
