I bought a Lenovo X250 laptop, refurbished with Windows 11 off eBay last year. It all seemed fine. I added an internal battery, and a high capacity removable battery to give it as much life as possible from a single charge.

Then a few months later, Windows Update stopped downloading updates. Long story short — I needed to update to the latest build of Windows 11, but when I tried, I couldn’t due to hardware incompatibility — the seller had bypassed the hardware requirements to install Windows 11.

I probably should have messaged the seller to get something resolved. But I didn’t.

Instead, I installed Ubuntu.

Faster, cleaner, slicker, more secure and free. Anytype works like a charm on it.

I love opening the lid, seeing 7+ hours of battery life remaining, and knowing I can be writing in less than 10 seconds.

Couldn’t be happier.
