Every once in a while, a track comes along that I know is an instant 5-star rating, and will reside on my permanent favourites playlist for years.
Honey Bomb is one such track.
I discovered Jakub Zytecki about two years ago and have loved his highly syncopated, abstract, yet melodic compositions. Then last year I stumbled across Regressor and found his music as attractive as his EP covers. So, when the two guitarists collaborated, there was bound to be some magic.
Driving, airy, and with a hell of a hook to draw you in, Honey Bomb effortlessly mixes dance beats with powerhouse rock drums, a bouncy bassline and soaring guitar lines that whilst complex, never feel sef-absorbed.
But most of all, it’s the vibe of Honey Bomb that stands out. It’s just so happy without being twee. And sometimes we all need a little raw happiness.
