I’m loving the woods in the morning. This part of Ystradfawr Nature Reserve is referred to as ‘the tips’ as it’s where the coal tips for Ystradfawr Mine used to be. In parts of the woodland, you can still find lumps of coal underfoot. Other post-industrial relics still remain – marker signs, rails, rusted gears. I find the juxtaposition of the two worlds most evocative.
