Frost Over Brechfa Forest

There is something so valuable about being able to get away from the craziness of Christmas. The blaring, repetitive seasonal music in the shops, the rush of getting everything ready, the rapid bleeps of supermarket checkouts, and the sheer stress of the festive season.

I haven’t walked Brechfa Forest in nearly ten years and I miss it. But here, amidst the cold and the quiet, the entire world is slowed down. The forest isn’t in a rush; it takes all the time it needs. Even the sun is holding back, not quite melting the hoar frost on the trail. It’s utter peace and so grounding.

Sometimes we could all do with a little bit of this to reclaim our sanity at this busy time of year.
