Oudh Woody is an interesting one from Khalis. I can see what they’ve tried to do with the bottle, but that label makes it look a bit tacky. What you get with this one is a dry, resinous, woody (duh), soapy, incense vibe with a hint of smokiness. Sweetness is absolutely minimal, but still there. It’s a heavy fragrance suited for cooler days.
I did see a wholesaler account on Instagram claiming it’s a clone of YSL Splendid Wood, but having not smelled the original, I’m none the wiser. It’s not like I can even compare notes between Oudh Woody and YSL Splendid Woods because notes for this one are a bit tricky to pin down.
Many retailer sites are suggesting these as the notes:
-
Top: Plum, Strawberry
-
Mid: Rose, Magnolia, Jasmine, Lily Of The Valley
-
Base: Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Guaiac wood, Patchouli, Ambergris, White Musk, Vanilla
And others are stating:
-
Top: Dry Wood, Amber Heart
-
Mid: Smoky notes
-
Base: Oud, Some spices
However, the states these as the notes:
-
Top: Pepper, Mandarin, Pine
-
Mid: Nutmeg, Patchouli, Oriental
-
Base: Woody, Leathery, Mossy, Musky
Not the most comprehensive notes list going, so there’s some serious confusion going on as to whether this is a clone and what it is cloning.
Taking it on face value, I like this one a lot. It’s an unusual scent – rich and very masculine. But I’m a little stuck for exactly when and where to wear it. It feels way too heavy to wear in the warmer months, yet it feels too fresh to be a cosy winter scent. Hmmm. I’ll have to do full wears and see how it goes.
