Black Mountain in Winter

Black Mountain in Winter

I must be on a roll. This is the first time I’ve done two paintings in one day. Once again, with the intention of trying to loosen my work up, the brief was to complete this in an hour and only use a wide, flat brush.

Most of my previous work has been quite colourful whereas this one’s quite different, being dramatic and quite dark in places. I do love the limited colour palette and find this makes the clouds ‘pop’. With the paint drying very quickly, I found the blending tricky. It would be good to try again in oils, or perhaps try some retarding fluid with the acrylics in future.
