This stretch of Irfon Forest located opposite Sugarloaf train station, with a simple sign and a small patch of gravel to park on is particularly unassuming. However, if you persevere with the winding uphill slope for a couple of miles, the high forest trails and views across to the Brecon Beacons are magnificent.
This particular day, I walked to a certain spot in the forest to read. I spent several hours engrossed in a book. Upon leaving, the afternoon light was so gorgeous I wandered up the higher tracks, around the top and back down to where I had been reading an hour before. I loved the way the light was hitting these trees as it reminded me of the peace and comfort I find in the forests.
